About Us

The Cork Trees Trust has been established in order to ensure that steps are taken to protect trees in Cork city and that the number of trees planted in Cork every year increases over the coming years.

It is hoped that this can be achieved through:

  • Lobbying Cork City Council to publish an approved Tree Policy
  • Campaigns to encourage homeowners, landowners, community groups, and other associations to plant trees in the city
  • Educational and Marketing programmes to highlight the importance of urban trees and cherish our existing tree stock

The Cork Trees Trust has been launched in 2019 following widespread concerns that trees in Cork city are being lost or damaged at an alarming rate and that current tree planting schemes are insufficient.

The Cork Trees Trust would like to see 5,000 new trees planted in Cork city by Summer 2023. If our local authority are unable to achieve this, we can work together to reach this goal ourselves.
